Montreal-born Allan Nicholls has had a varied career, touring as a rock musician, performing on the Broadway stage and on to a lengthy career in film. Allan’s 40-year film history includes acting, producing, screenwriting, composing music and directing, with industry legends such as Robert Altman, George Roy Hill and Tim Robbins, among others.

He had the good fortune to share his extensive experience as a guest lecturer at New York University, James Madison University, University of Southern California, Concordia, and the University of Vermont. In 2007 he served as the Director of Film Production at Burlington College, where he taught screenwriting, music and film, directing, and producing courses. In 2009 he went to Singapore and NYU’s Tisch Asia School of the Arts as a Visiting Associate Arts Professor. By the end of each semester, students learned how the best in the business created films like Nashville, Slap Shot, Short Cuts, The Player, and Dead Man Walking.

Allan is currently enjoying a lecture circuit at various universities throughout the country, preparing to direct the film The Destiny of Nathalie X, by William Boyd and enjoying the resurrection of his performing career as an actor and singer. The time has come to carry on!
